    School of Teacher Education, Central University of Technology [email protected] We sought to investigate the nature, causes and effects of school violence in four South African high schools. A purposive sample of five principals, 80 learners and 20 educators was selected from the four schools used in the study. The Health Care Professional (HCP) has an ideal opportunity to assess for and intervene in domestic violence, the largest cause of injury to women in the United States. This article reviews key information the HCP must know to proactively address this health care dilemma.
